Joey here! I've now owned the '65 Wagon for close to a month, and it's been awesome—the car runs like a champ, and boy, does it have balls! Haha. The tires it came with were pretty cracked and too sketchy for me to take on the freeway, so after running them for about two weeks, I decided to go with some Cooper G/Ts. They feel great—way more traction. Looking back, those old ones were super dry; they would spin for days. Another thing I came across: I had to bypass the heater core. I was lucky enough to be surprised with coolant running down the passenger floorboard after about 2.5 weeks of hard driving. So, it held up for a while, but yeah, that had to be dealt with. Other than that, no problems with anything major. It had a K&N filter that was pretty grimy, so I grabbed the K&N Recharger kit and cleaned it up—it came out well. I also bled the brakes twice, and now I’m moving on to replacing the master cylinder and booster. I believe the booster is worn out and has a vacuum leak, so it’s time for that to go. Since she’s so heavy and has all that power, I figured it's probably not smart to be driving with weak brakes. Plus, I want to be able to freeway test it soon. I think I’ll start documenting the build, and once I do, I’ll see about attaching a link to the progress. Should be fun! I also plan on getting a posi rear in there—maybe 3.73 gears to keep it versatile. That’s where I’m at so far, and it’s been real fun getting to this point! 1965 Chevrolet Impala Wagon May 15, 2025 2:39 pm
