Updated engine compartment photo with the dual battery isolator removed. | 1970 Jeep Jeepster Commando | August 28, 2024 9:16 pm
The Commando is up and running! We've just added a cold start video that showcases its quick start and smooth idle. A mobile auto electrician rewired the ignition switch and removed the second battery, along with the dual battery isolator, to tidy up the engine compartment. The fuel line currently runs from the existing mechanical fuel pump into a fuel can. Most of the wiring you see in the dash is for various accessories that you may choose to remove or not use. It's in great shape and ready for you to make it your own! | 1970 Jeep Jeepster Commando | August 23, 2024 12:00 pm
Project Update! The Commando has been wired so that it turns over and starts with a key turn. It fired up effortlessly on the first try with a dribble of gas into the carb. It was then set up with a fuel line from the mechanical fuel pump directly into a gas can and it fired up again, but there was fuel leaking out of the venturis and flooding it, so the carb is going in for a professional rebuild tomorrow. We expect to have a video of it running by the middle of next week, so stay tuned! | 1970 Jeep Jeepster Commando | August 15, 2024 6:07 pm
We appreciate your participation in this exciting first project listing on Build My Ride and for enduring our technical difficulties. We look forward to making the required programming updates so that we have smoother listings in the future. Just like building a real car, you can test systems multiple times, but things can still shake loose on your first drive.
