Hello everyone, I'm Greg, the current owner of this 63.5 Galaxie. I have a shop outside of LA county called Moonshot Performance, and I'm ready to sell this car that started out as a fun personal project. This car came to me from a family that drives, restores, and builds a lot of these, and they were happy to find someone interested in getting it back on the road one way or another - I've added a lot to the car and have collected (and included!) nearly all of what it needs for the next owner, and I'm happy to pass it along to someone with more time and just as much desire to see it enjoying the highways again. It's an ideal "father and son" type project, especially if you are drawn to welding, bodywork, and interior finishing more than mechanical work. It's in the process of upgrades to the ignition (brand new), carb (brand new), and brakes (brand new dual master cylinder/proportioning valve) with professionally chosen parts. Many of the more difficult mechanical hurdles have already been jumped, including a transmission repair and replacement of various essential parts. All of the required sheetmetal is provided for the floors and trunk, along with a brand new fuel tank, often a messy, frustrating issue on cars of this age. One of the best things about this project is that the majority of it can be done while the car runs and drives - bodywork, interior, and other refinements. Overall, it presents with a great patina, which can be highlighted by patina preservers that are as easy to use as a wash and wax. I intended to restore the car like this while commuting and showing it around California, and and have added mounts for modern 3-point seatbelts to the front seats. I never see these big coupes on the road anymore, and I would be happy to let it go to someone just as enthusiastic about seeing it driving again. They're some of the most handsome and comfortable cars ever built, even when a bit rough around the edges. And yes, If you want to build a NASCAR clone out of it, that would be awesome too! Thanks for looking and have a good one! 1963.5 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Fastback January 7, 2026 12:03 pm
Hi all! Greg here. I'm excited for people to see the potential in this car, for whatever goals it inspires. There's something about the rarity and formal look of this bodystyle that I thought would really be striking if built in a performance style - either nostalgia or modern. It's still an angular, pillarless two-door coupe at heart, with clean, eye-catching lines. I planned to build it as a SuperStock-looking street car circa the early 1970's, but it would be equally at home as a Gasser or Pro-Touring platform! This car is as easy to work on as a Mustang and it'll be a while before you see another one pass you on the road - the details in the design are very rooted in the mid-1960's but have a timeless quality today, either with or without all the chrome and stainless trim. If you ever wanted FoMoCo version of the SuperStock Dodge Dart, this is a great candidate to build into a "factory" style drag car that never existed before! It's a great job for those looking to flex or build their welding and rust repair skills, too. Subframe connectors are available for this unibody, as well as fiberglass hoods and trunklids, if you want to go that route. There's plenty of good Ford factory metal in the form of extra hoods/trunks so you won't have to throw in for new sheetmetal patches at all. There's a lot of parts included that are ready to be used or resold by the winner here - I need the room in my shop! Thanks for looking - feel free to ask any questions, I'm happy to answer them. 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 Hardtop May 26, 2025 1:42 pm
