The Story
This 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint rolled off the assembly line in Atlanta, GA on October 17, 1963, wearing Phoenician Yellow paint and black vinyl bucket seat interior. The Sprint package, introduced mid-year in 1963, transformed the economy-minded Falcon into a genuine sports compact. Named to capitalize on Ford's success in international rally competition, the Sprint featured bucket seats, chassis stiffening, upgraded suspension, and Ford's new 260ci V8 - the same small-block that would power the first Mustangs just months later. Production numbers were modest, with only 17,310 Sprint hardtops built in 1964, making them considerably less common than their Mustang successors.
The current owner purchased this Sprint in January 2025 from Streetside Classics in Fort Worth, TX. The car was in good driver condition but needed cosmetic updates and mechanical sorting to satisfy the new owner’s standards. As a Navy veteran who owned a 1964 Falcon before being sent overseas, the owner was drawn to this Sprint as the perfect cruiser - a car meant to be driven and enjoyed rather than trailered and stored. Over the past 14 months, he has systematically upgraded and refined the car with fresh paint, re-polished trim, interior improvements, suspension work, and mechanical sorting. The result is a turn-key driver that he regularly cruises, including a 400 mile round trip to Las Vegas and the 90 mile round trip to the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, CA where it arrived under its own power while other cars rolled off trailers. The owner has always followed a “one car at a time” philosophy, so that he could truly enjoy the car and drive it anywhere, anytime, as evidenced by the 3,600 miles he drove this Falcon. He wants his last car to be a Tri-Five Chevy, so the proceeds from this Falcon will go directly into his new ride.
The owner holds a clean California title. There is a reserve that must be met.

How it Was Built
Paint & Body: The car received a complete professional repaint in its original Phoenician Yellow in June 2025. The only body work performed was to make it more straight. The $8,000 paint job was completed by Angel’s Body Shop in Montclair, CA, an award winning body shop. All 31 pieces of body trim were professionally re-polished at a cost of $900 and reinstalled. New door handles and fender emblems were installed as well. The body is straight with excellent panel fit.
Drivetrain & Chassis: The original 260ci V8 small-block is paired with a Ford-O-Matic 2-speed automatic transmission, running through an 8 inch axle with 3.25:1 gears and open differential. Streetside Classics reported in their listing that the engine had been rebuilt 2,000 miles ago at the time, which would now total about 5,600 miles. Recent mechanical work includes new oil pan gasket, oil change, new rear main seal, and new battery. New valve covers and air cleaner were installed, with the removed versions included with the car if they are preferred. The engine starts easily, idles smoothly, and cruises effortlessly.
The entire front suspension was rebuilt with new upper and lower control arms, new spring perches, new strut rod bushings, and new idler arm. Factory power steering is in place with a new pump that was just installed to solve a fluid leak. New rear brake wheel cylinders were installed and pads adjusted. The car rides on 17-inch Foose wheels with Hankook 205/50R17 tires.
Interior & Floors: Custom seat inserts were designed to bring the exterior Phoenician Yellow inside through yellow stitching, complementing the original bucket seats. The door panels and rear seat panels were customized with the same yellow stitching. A custom trunk panel and carpet were installed with Sprint script insignia. The current center console is an aftermarket unit with matching yellow stitched lid and two cup holders. The original center console is included. The package tray has been recovered in suede. New carpet was installed throughout. There is a Sony stereo head unit mounted in the glove box, which powers the Polk Audio speakers in the kick panels. The original AM radio is retained in the dash, but not hooked up. The factory air conditioning system was serviced and repaired with a new condenser and compressor being installed. The owner reports “it will blow you out of the car". The floors are in excellent condition with only some crust on the underside as pictured.

What to Expect
This is a sorted, turnkey driver ready to enjoy immediately. The owner drives it regularly, including to car shows, and reports that everything works: horn, turn signals, lights, gauges, and air conditioning. The car starts easily, runs strong, idles smoothly, and cruises like a dream. At highway speeds, the 260 V8 and 2-speed automatic provide relaxed cruising with good temperatures maintained throughout.
The car needs nothing mechanically and is ready to drive and enjoy as-is. This is a well-sorted example of Ford's sportiest compact from the pre-Mustang era, perfect for someone who wants to drive rather than wrench.
Door panels do not sit completely flush on the bottom edge. There is a small hole in the driver seat upholstery on the bottom side. There is some overspray from the re-paint as pictured.
