The Story

Two projects, one purpose. The first is barn-find drag car from Wisconsin that brings the aggression: a built Chevy 350 with a lumpy cam, mated to a 4-speed Saginaw transmission and Chrysler 8.75 rear axle, built for the strip. The second is partially restored four-door sedan from Riverside, California that brings the structure: a clean 1937 Dodge D5 Sedan body with suicide doors and original factory identifiers intact. Separately, they were unfinished stories. Together, they are something nobody saw coming.

What you are looking at is the potential for a four-door gasser build, street rod, or bagged cruiser. With its long stance, big tire in the rear, skinnies up front, and headers out the sides, the direction is yours to decide. The coupe body that originally carried the drivetrain is no longer part of the plan, but its front floor sections are included to support adapting the manual transmission into the four-door body. The builder who takes this on gets a platform with major components already in place and a clear direction forward.

What You Get

Drivetrain & Chassis:
The running and driving 1937 Dodge chassis carries a well built Chevy 350 V8 with fender-well headers, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, and Holley 750 carb. The transmission is a GM Saginaw four-speed in great working condition. The rear gear ratio is believed to be 3.73 with posi, which needs to be confirmed. The video shows the car as purchased in driving condition prior to removing the body. The aluminum radiator is included. The gasser stance configuration is set with the small front and large rear wheel setup already established. The front end doesn't sit as high as the typical gasser look. Drum brakes are at all four corners. The shocks and springs are in good condition.

Body & Exterior:
The 1937 Dodge D5 Sedan four-door body is the centerpiece of this build, with its suicide door configuration intact. Overall the body is a survivor, except for the trunk floor and rear bottom edge below the trunk lid. All body panels are included. Floor sections from the original donor coupe are included to support the manual transmission and drivetrain adaptation into the four-door body. A complete set of new glass is included along with hard to find window trim pieces. There are multiple boxes of removed parts from the car that will help finish it.

Interior & Floors:
Both the front and rear bench seats have been fully restored and are ready to install. Most interior parts are included such as the dash, instrument cluster, window trim, and handles. There are many parts inboxes that have not been fully inventoried yet. The cabin floors are solid. The trunk floor has some rot.

What You Need

Drivetrain & Chassis:
The removed wiring harness will need to be reinstalled. A fuel tank will need to be mounted and plumbed. Ignition components need to be installed and hooked up. The radiator requires installation and hook up. The chassis is in usable condition, although some upgrades would be a good idea while the body is off, such as a disc brake upgrade. The steering box and column assembly are ready for reinstallation. The paint has started to flake off of the frame, so a cosmetic refresh may be desired.

Body & Exterior:
Paint and exterior direction are entirely up to the builder. This platform is equally suited to a period-correct full gasser, a street and strip brawler, or a custom hot rod interpretation. The bones support your vision. All of the glass and window regulators will need to be installed. The trunk lid will need to be mounted on the hinges after paint. The front end is in pieces which will all need to be fit together and mounted, along with the fenders.

Interior & Floors:
Other than the seats, the car needs a full interior. The front floor will need modification to properly fit the current transmission setup, though the materials to do so are included. The trunk floor needs to be replaced and some metal work on the lower rear body below the trunk lid.
